India batter Virat Kohli was left stunned and with his hand on his mouth after Sri Lanka batter Kusal Mendis hit pacer Umran Malik for a six with an effortless pull in the second ODI between the two sides which is underway in Eden Gardens, Kolkata on January 12, 2023.

Sri Lanka batted first after captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and revealed that Nuwanidu Fernando was making his debut replacing Pathum Nissanka, while injured Dilshan Madushanka was replaced by Lahiru Kumara.

India also made one change with Kuldeep Yadav replacing injured Yuzvendra Chahal.

Mohammed Siraj gave India the first wicket, bowling Avisha Fernando for 20 runs when Kusal Mendis came in at no.3. He batted beautifully and added 73 runs for the second wicket with debutant Nuwanidu Fernando, who made a half-century on his ODI debut.

Mendis looked in deft touch as he hit Umran Malik for a nonchalant six over a deep-backward square leg. The ball was short of the length and he just swiveled on foot the shot left former India captain Virat Kohli speechless and he was seen covering his mouth with his hand after watching the shot.

However, Mendis was dismissed soon after by Kuldeep Yadav for 34 runs and Sri Lanka could only manage 215 runs in 39.4 overs.
