Virat Kohli has been on the song ever since he returned to form with the bat in the Asia Cup 2022. After waiting for his 71st international century for 1021 days, which came in the Asia Cup against Afghanistan last year, he is constantly showing his class.
In December 2022, the former Indian skipper smashed his 72nd international century in the third ODI against Bangladesh, and on January 10, he notched up another ton against Sri Lanka in Guwahati to take his tally to 73 in international cricket.
Kohli has now 45 centuries to his name to date in ODI cricket.
Having been impressed by Kohli’s numbers, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal said that players nowadays can't even think of scoring 45 centuries in all three formats of the game, let alone in one format, but the Indian star did it in style and it showed how he is genius.
Kamran Akmal said on his YouTube channel: “Nowadays, players can't even imagine of scoring of 45 centuries across formats, but Virat Kohli has scored as many in a single format. He has scored 73 international tons so far. He definitely got chances, but he made the most of those chances.”
The veteran cricketer further mentioned that Kohli has been delivering consistently ever since he rediscovered his form, and it shows how he is an important player for Team India, especially in the global and continental tournaments.
Akmal signed off by saying, “He had scored a century on this venue two-three years back and now he has rediscovered his form by scoring another hundred. He performed in the World Cup and the Asia Cup. The runs haven't dried up, which tells how important a player he is for India.”
