IND v SL 2023: Jasprit Bumrah pulled out from Sri Lanka ODI series - Report

Bumrah has been out of action since September 2022.

Jasprit Bumrah | TwitterAce Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action due to a stress reaction to his back since the Australia T20Is at home last year, which also led him to miss the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022.

He was supposed to make his return to the Men in Blue side in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka which begins January 10th as he was named in the Indian squad.

However, now, Cricbuzz has reported that Jasprit Bumrah will not play the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka starting Tuesday. This comes after sources revealed that BCCI felt that it was too soon to rush the Gujarat pacer into action. He has not traveled to Guwahati for the first ODI.

Furthermore, the recommendation has seemingly come from the NCA staff, as there are more important series like the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia at home in February-March and the ODI World Cup later this year.

Whether a formal communication from the BCCI will be made remains to be seen as the team management is believed to have used its discretion on the advice of the NCA.

Sources further indicated that Bumrah might actually make his comeback to international cricket in the white-balls series against New Zealand which begins on January 18.

India's updated squad for Sri Lanka ODIs:
