The three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka got underway at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday (January 3).

Visiting skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening game. With India’s new T20I captain Hardik Pandya flipping the coin, Shanaka chose heads and it went in his favour.

Subsequently, the two captains shook hands and the Sri Lanka skipper informed his Indian counterpart of his decision.

In response, Hardik came up with a hilarious two-word response, "I know."

At the toss, Hardik Pandya said: “Excited. Always been excited to play for the country, but obviously leading now makes it more special. Excited to see how this new bunch of guys express themselves.”

The Indian captain also revealed that Arshdeep Singh won't be available with debutant Shivam Mavi replacing him, while opener Shubman Gill is also making his debut.

“We have two debutants today - Shivam Mavi and Shubman Gill. Arshdeep wasn't available, so Mavi comes in his place" he added.
