Karunaratne score 107 in 4th innings of recent Bengaluru Test vs india | BCCISri Lanka captain Dimuth committed a gaffe on Twitter as he responded to an old tweet from Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle, who had praised someone for scoring a century in the fourth innings of a Test.

Incidentally, Karunaratne scored a ton in the recent second Test against India in Bengaluru as he made 107, while Sri Lanka collapsed to 208 all out and lost the Test by 238 runs. With this loss, Sri Lanka suffered a whitewash against India 2-0, and their dream for a maiden Test win in India remains to be realized.

As many lauded Karunaratne for his century, an old tweet from cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle also started to resurface. The context of the old tweet was very similar to the current series, and hence, the Lankan skipper mistook it for a fresh tweet.

A fourth innings hundred is special. And it has come from a very fine player. #DimuthKarunaratne,” Bhogle had tweeted in 2019. And the Sri Lanka captain replied to the tweet saying Thank You.

However, he realized his mistake soon and took it sportingly, and tweeted, “Just realized this tweet is 3 years ago anyway @bhogleharsha that was a Good Prediction

Harsha Bhogle also replied to Karunaratne saying: "But the sentiment was the same! Wish you many more. Hope you carry happy memories of the crowd in Bengaluru applauding you."

Courtesy of the 2-0 series loss, Sri Lanka dropped down to 5th in the World Test Championship points table while India climbed up to 4th.
