The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that left-arm spin all-rounder Akshar Patel has been added to the Indian Test squad for the upcoming second and final Test match against Sri Lanka, which begins March 12.
The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and will happen under lights with a pink ball. This will be the first day-night match between India and Sri Lanka and the third to take place in India.

Akshar Patel had been injured since the Mumbai Test against New Zealand in December last year. He was supposed to play in the white-ball series against West Indies and Sri Lanka but was recovering after contracting COVID-19.
Meanwhile, BCCI said in their official statement: “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Axar Patel to India’s squad for the second Paytm Test to be played from 12-16th March in Bengaluru. The all-rounder has completed his rehab and has been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team. Kuldeep Yadav has been released from the squad for the second Test.”
