Sri Lanka managed just 174 in their first innings, as Ravindra Jadeja followed his 175*-run knock with a sublime piece of bowling, taking 5/41. Rohit Sharma didn’t think twice and asked Dimuth Karunaratne to follow on with a lead of 400 runs.

While R Ashwin gave India the first wicket, removing Lahiru Thirimanne for 17, Mohammad Shami was the one who picked the important wicket of the opposition skipper.

Sri Lanka skipper walked back to the pavilion after scoring just 27 runs off 46 balls, including 6 fours, when the visitors were struggling against the hosts’ bowling unit.

In the 16th over of Sri Lanka’s second innings, Shami delivered a terrific delivery pitching on a length on an off-stump and the Sri Lanka skipper was looking to push the ball towards mid-on but the ball took the thick edge and went towards the wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. Pant dived to pouch the ball safely.
