Batting great Sunil Gavaskar said that experienced Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not resting on his laurels and will be in the frame for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar received a lot of flak for his performances of late and his place in the squad was even questioned. After his poor display against South Africa in the ODI series, he was dropped from the ODI squad for the West Indies series.

However, the right-arm pacer replied to all the critics in style with a brilliant performance in the T20I series against the Kieron Pollard-led side.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar then continued his good form in the first game of the ongoing three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. He bowled a sensational spell conceding only 9 runs in his 2 overs and picking 2 wickets.

Speaking on Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar is again making his point and nobody can take his place for granted in the side. He highlighted that the right-arm pacer picked himself up after questions were asked about him and getting slipped.

"He is again making a point. Yes, he had a pretty ordinary series in South Africa. But he has come back well. Again, look at the competition, nobody can take his place for granted. He has been a senior bowler for such a long time, the moment he slipped a little bit and questions were asked about him, he has picked himself up," Sunil Gavaskar said.

Sunil Gavaskar further said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has worked hard and is trying to get better with every day passing. He remarked that with him not resting on his laurels the pacer will be in the frame for the T20 World Cup 2022.

"He hasn't gone into a shell, thinking 'oh what is going to happen?'. He has worked harder, he has looked at his bowling and he is trying to get better with every passing day. And that's what is important. He is not resting on his laurels. He is saying with the extra pace and the bounce that I will get in Australia, he will in the frame," he said.

With Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami also in the mix, it remains to be seen if Bhuvneshwar Kumar will find a place in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2022 or not.
