Jasprit Bumrah has yet again made headlines due to his recurring back issues after he was ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa on September 30 after reportedly suffering a stress fracture to his back.
There are high chances of him missing the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as well, and former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has blamed the BCCI for causing this issue for the pacer.
Notably, Bumrah was rested after the England tour in July and then he suffered an injury that caused him to miss a number of matches for India, including the Asia Cup 2022.
However, after making a comeback in the recent T20I series against Australia, the fast bowler was injured again after only two matches.
Reacting to the unfortunate news, Kaneria said that the BCCI should not have rushed Bumrah's back in action against Australia, and when it comes to preparations and getting back into the rhythm, the star pacer could have played practice matches before the T20 World Cup 2022 to get back into the groove.
Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel: “It would have been better if he had returned directly at the T20 World Cup 2022. He could have played in practice matches to get back into rhythm. He is not like Harshal Patel or any other bowler who would need a lot of time to get back into the groove.”
He signed off by saying, “There are issues with Jasprit Bumrah's back once again. While he is prone to injuries, he has always played all the matches in the IPL. The BCCI and the team management have looked after him well, giving him enough rest. However, it remains to be seen if the medical team were sure that he was ready to return.”
While Mohammed Siraj has been named as Bumrah's replacement in the South Africa T20Is, the BCCI is yet to name any replacement for the T20 World Cup 2022.
