IND v SA 2022: WATCH- Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar reduce South Africa to 9/5 in 2.3 overs in 1st T20I

Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh routed SA in powerplay itself | BCCIThe first T20I between India and South Africa got underway in a blockbuster style in Trivandrum on September 28, 2022, as the Men in Blue bowlers rattled the Proteas batting in the first half of the powerplay overs itself.

Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first. Jasprit Bumrah was missing in the playing XI due to a back injury, while Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been rested. Instead of them, Deepak Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Rishabh Pant, and R Ashwin came into the side.

South Africa, on the other hand, has arrived on the Indian shores with their full-strength squad which will also play in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Meanwhile, South Africa suffered one of the most devastating starts to their innings as they lost captain Temba Bavuma on the last ball of the first over to Deepak Chahar. Chahar clean bowled the Proteas captain for a duck with a beautiful inswinger.

Then Arshdeep Singh, who missed the Australia series, came into action and hurried the South African batters with an amazing display of swing bowling.

First Quinton de Kock played onto his stumps for 1 run in the second over and then Rilee Russouw edged an outswinger to Rishabh Pant for a first-ball duck.

Next came David Miller, who anticipated another outswinger, but was outsmarted by Arshdeep, who bowled a vicious inswinger that rattled his stumps.

After a couple of balls in the third over, Deepak Chahar removed Tristan Stubbs, who recently was the most expensive player sold in the SA20 auction. Stubbs was caught by Arshdeep at third man for a golden duck, which left South Africa 9/5 in just 2.3 overs.
