Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is having the best of times in the last few months. After a staggering IPL 2022 campaign, where he scored 330 runs at an incredible strike rate of 183.33, he was recalled into the Indian side for the ongoing T20I series against South Africa. 

Karthik made his comeback in the Indian colours after almost three years. He last played for India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and since then he has found himself on the sidelines and failed to cut into the national side. 

In the first T20I against South Africa, he played only 2 balls but he made his presence felt in the second game and scored unbeaten 30 runs in 21 balls to help his side post a fighting total on the board. In the recently held third match, he scored just 6 runs.

With India in a must-win situation, being the senior player Karthik will have to step up and is expected that he will play a bigger role going ahead into the series. He also retained his place in the team for the T20I series in Ireland, the squad of which was announced on Wednesday (15th June). 

Karthik recently posted a hilarious video on his Twitter account. The clip is shot during the Indian team’s flight to Rajkot, where the fourth T20I will take place. In the video, the right-hander can be seen coming out of the smoke, which is in the plane, while everyone around him is seen hooting and clapping.
