David Miller, fresh off a highly successful IPL 2022 stint with Gujarat Titans, scored 64 not out off 31 balls on Thursday to help South Africa chase down a 212-run target against India in the first T20I in Delhi.
Also known as ‘Killer' Miller for his big-hitting, he hammered Indian bowlers all over the park in Delhi as South Africa recorded their highest successful chase ever in T20Is.
Miller was a vital player for Titans, who won the IPL for the first-time last month after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final. With 481 runs in 16 games, the South African was the third-highest run-scorer in IPL 2022.
Miller continued his form for South Africa as well, as he paired up with Rassie van der Dussen adding 131* runs for the 4th wicket to achieve the target with five balls to spare.

In April, David Miller's father Andrew tweeted that the batter had made a technical change to his game that specialists had been unable to detect. Former paceman Dale Steyn had a humorous reaction to the technical change after Miller's match-winning innings against India.
Steyn told ESPNcricinfo: “I think it’s confidence. He’s always had that six-hitting ability. I can’t see any difference technically. Maybe I’ll have to give his dad a call and find out what technical difference he’s made. Now, he seems to be hitting boundaries when he wants to. If he feels under pressure, he can hit the ball for six. Every time he hits a six, he genuinely hits the ball a long way.
“Since then, he’s just been on this upward curve. Got the nod with the (Gujarat) Titans. Hardik Pandya gave him the freedom to express himself with the bat. It just seems like he’s gotten better and better. He put on the South African jersey today (Thursday) and just continued from where he left off at the IPL. He’s been phenomenal," Steyn further added.
The second T20I will be played in Cuttack on June 12.
