Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has expressed his concerns over Team India’s poor record against South Africa at home ahead of the five-match T20I series, starting on June 9 (Thursday).

Chopra further said that South Africa had been India’s "Achilles heel" and now they have become a stronger side, as he is expecting a tough challenge from the touring side in the upcoming T20I series.

Notably, India has won 9 out of 15 T20Is in South Africa, but they dominated the Men In Blue in their own backyard, as the Proteas side won three out of four T20I matches.

Chopra said on his YouTube channel: If we see our overall head-to-head against South Africa, we have played 15 out of which we have won nine and they have won six, so it is a very good record.”

He further explained, “But if we talk about home, we have played four matches, won just one and South Africa has won three. We don't have a worse record than this against any other team at home. South Africa has been our Achilles heel. They are the ones who trouble us. South Africa has grown in confidence, South Africa has grown in stature.”

Chopra signed off by saying, “This series is going to be very interesting if we see their World Cup. Their team is also very good. Temba Bavuma is slightly a weak link if we talk about the shortest format. They have two spinners in the form of Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi.”
