The first T20I of the five-match series between India and South Africa will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on June 9, which means the players will have to get used to the oppressive heat in the nation's capital.

In the last two months, temperatures in Delhi have been increasing on most days, and players may have to play in temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius, even at night.

Players from the camps have begun training at the stadium, which means they have already experienced the heat.

Tabraiz Shamsi, the South African spinner, even decided to offer supporters a mocking weather update. “Just a cool 42 degrees outside ...not hot at all lol,” wrote Shamsi in a tweet.

India's optional practice session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, which marked the start of the team's preparations ahead of the five-match T20I series against South Africa, was skipped by Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harshal Patel.

The focus was on pace sensation Umran Malik, who received his first India call-up following his IPL exploits. The right-arm pacer from Jammu, who often bowls around 150 kmph, began with a few half-run up deliveries before bowling at full throttle to Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Deepak Hooda.

Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh, however, were the most remarkable Indian seamers. Avesh delivered near-perfect yorkers to Ishan Kishan, Pant, and Shreyas, while Arshdeep practiced a simulated yorker under the watchful eye of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.
