Former South African captain-turned-commentator, Shaun Pollock shared his views on KL Rahul’s captaincy skills, as he gears up to lead Team India in the five-match T20I series against South Africa, starting on Thursday (June 9) in Delhi.

Rahul is yet to make any big impact as captain, but Pollock believes that the right-hander is slowly emerging as a dependable leader. Rahul has been named Team India captain in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma for the upcoming home series against South Africa.

Pollock said on Cricbuzz: “A lot of people in the Indian setup who know Indian cricket really well have said that KL Rahul is a bit of a reluctant captain and is not a natural leader. But I think he is finding his feet and is coming to his own. When you are leading from the front with your performance, it makes the rest of the things easy.”

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja also shared his views on Rahul’s captaincy. He believes that Rahul has the ability to lead India and is “far ahead” of other players in the team.

Jadeja told Sportskeeda: “KL Rahul has the ability and is far ahead of the rest. He is very moody and we have seen him in different moods on different occasions. He has always been very calm.”
