The five-match T20I series between India and South Africa is all set to start on June 9, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.
The Proteas had arrived in Delhi on the 2nd of June and have been getting ready for the series. The Indian squad was on a break after the ending of the IPL 2022.
After a little bit of rest, the ‘Men in Blue’ assembled in Delhi on Sunday and started training for the forthcoming series on Monday. The BCCI shared a video of the contingent’s training on their official Twitter handle, in which head coach Rahul Dravid is seen giving a pep talk to the Indian squad.
The senior players of the team - Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested for the India-South Africa T20I series. Youngsters like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh have earned their maiden call-up to the national side, based on their IPL 15 performances.
KL Rahul will be captaining the side in Rohit Sharma’s absence. Veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik and all-rounder Hardik Pandya made their comebacks to the Indian team.
Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Akshar Patel, and Ravi Bishnoi are also a part of the team. Venkatesh Iyer has retained his place from the previous T20I series against West Indies.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, the magical spin-duo have been included in the squad, along with death over specialists Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
