Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh impressed India’s bowling coach Para Mhambrey on the first day of the squad’s practice session in Delhi ahead of the first T20I match of the five-match series against South Africa at the Arun Jaitley Stadium which will be played on June 9.
All eyes were on the two uncapped duo- Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh during the optional net practice. Malik warmed up a little before bowling full tilt at Shreyas Iyer and then Rishabh Pant and Deepak Hooda.
However, it was Avesh Khan, who nailed his yorkers right while bowling to Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas while Arshdeep Singh was seen practicing a simulated yorker training under the watchful eyes of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

Mhambrey kept a baseball mitt in front of the stumps and placed a bottle about six inches away from the three sticks for Arshdeep to aim. The young left-arm seamer took about 10 attempts and landed about three in the desired areas which seemed to have impressed the bowling coach.

Meanwhile, BCCI sources confirmed that Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harshal Patel skipped India's optional practice session, but are likely to take part in the training session on Tuesday.
Also impressive was comeback man Dinesh Karthik’s batting in the nets. The veteran stumper was seen attempting the lap and ramp shots in a 10-minute-long session in front of the throwdown specialists, who were asked to vary their lengths and speed.
