IND v SA 2022: ‘What he does, I’ve only seen Zaheer, Nehra do- Sehwag praises Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh was included in India squad for South Africa T20Is.

Arshdeep Singh imressed everyone with his death bowling skills I BCCI-IPL

The BCCI announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming India-South Africa T20I series that starts on the 9th of June. And Punjab Kings bowler Arshdeep Singh was one of the two uncapped players named along with Umran Malik.

Former Indian star batter Virender Sehwag commended left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh who has had a great stint in IPL 2022 playing for the Punjab Kings, picking up 10 wickets in 14 matches.

However, what came as a surprise though was his death bowling skills. With an economy rate of 7.91 runs and over, his economy rate was the second-best among all the pace bowlers (minimum 60 balls bowled) after Jasprit Bumrah.

"Had I been picked by an IPL team, I wouldn't have got any games": Cheteshwar Pujara

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag wholeheartedly praised the young pacer, acknowledging the tough job that was bestowed upon him, and also admitting that he did a pretty good job with the same.
Sehwag went on to say that he had only seen former India cricketers Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra do this job efficiently during his days.

“Arshdeep has impressed me because he bowls two of the last three overs for Punjab Kings. He may not have that many wickets, but his economy rate is brilliant. He the bowler who bowls one over with the new ball and two in the slog overs. I have only seen Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra do that during my time. Now, its Arshdeep and Bumrah, and Bhuvneshwar as well. It is a very difficult job to bowl in the slog overs,” Sehwag said.

Arshdeep Singh was one of the few uncapped players to have been retained by a franchise. Singh picked up 18 wickets in 12 matches for the Punjab Kings last year, with an economy rate of 8.27.
