New Zealand captain Kane Williamson followed up on Ajaz Patel’s gesture, as the star batter generously donated his jersey to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for its upcoming museum.

Earlier, New Zealand’s left-arm Ajaz Patel donated the ball with which he created history at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by picking up all 10-wickets in an innings in the second Test against India. The Mumbai-born Patel also donated his match T-shirt as well to the MCA for the museum.

It is being said that the MCA had requested New Zealand Media Manager Willy Nicholls to ask the Kiwi team if they could donate some memorabilia for the planned museum in Mumbai, and Williamson didn’t miss the opportunity to win more Indian hearts with his lovely gesture.

Upon being requested, Williamson has donated the jersey that he wore in the recently concluded Test series against India in a lovely gesture to the MCA’s planned museum, and the MCA was thankful for the gesture. Notably, Williamson missed the second Test due to an injury in Mumbai.

A source in the MCA told Times of India: “After we requested the New Zealand media manager Willy Nicholls to ask his team if they can give us some memorabilia for our upcoming museum, Williamson was kind enough to provide us with his autographed T-shirt. It’s a lovely gesture from him.”

Meanwhile, Patel said that he didn’t mind leaving the ball with which he created history for the MCA’s cause. Notably, the spinner became only the third bowler in the history of Test cricket to take all 10 wickets in an innings, joining Jim Laker and Anil Kumble, who had achieved the milestone in 1956 and 1999. He also registered the best figures for a bowler against India in Test cricket.

Patel said, “It’s a special bit of memorabilia for them to be able to keep here. It’s special for me as well to leave something behind in Mumbai with my name on it. Because anyone who sees it will know that I’ve been here and achieved something.”

India registered a record 372 runs win over New Zealand in the second Test and sealed the two-match Test series 1-0.
