Former cricketers Shane Warne and Michael Vaughan gave their opinion on the controversial LBW dismissal of India captain Virat Kohli during the second Test match against New Zealand. Kohli had to depart on a duck after left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel trapped him in front of the stumps.
It was the last ball of the 30th over when Kohli tried to defend a straight delivery but ended up getting hit on his pads. A confident appeal from Ajaz got approved by the on-field umpire Anil Chaudhary, who felt there was no bat involved.
Kohli had challenged the decision and opted for a review. The third umpire Virender Sharma felt the ball hit his pads first before making a contact with the bat and back the decision by the on-field umpire.
The decision created controversy on social media as many felt the third-umpire failed to spot the ball hit the first before pads.
Talking about the dismissal on Twitter, Warne and Vaughan also felt the third umpire made a mistake. "NOT OUT", wrote Vaughan while quoting a video of the dismissal.
"This is simply - not out !!!!! We often discuss technology & its use / accuracy. The main problem@is the interpretation of the technology. Here’s a perfect example of the ball clearly hitting the edge of the bat first," Warne tweeted.
