India captain Virat Kohli got out on a controversial decision by the third umpire Virender Sharma in the first innings of the second Test against New Zealand. Kohli took a DRS after being given out by the on-field umpire over an LBW appeal.

It was the last ball of the 30th over bowled by Ajaz Patel when Kohli was trapped in front of the wickets. He tried to defend a straight delivery but ended up getting hit on his pads.

After a huge shout from the bowler Ajaz, on-field umpire Anil Chaudhary felt there was no bat involved and he ruled his decision against the batter. As soon as Kohli saw the umpire raising his finger, he opted for a review.

Unfortunately, the India skipper had to walk back on a duck after the third-umpire felt the ball hit his pads first before making a contact with the bat. Kohli was shocked to find out the decision has come against him.

Walking back to the dressing room, Kohli even hit the boundary rope in anger and he was later seen having a chat with head coach Rahul Dravid while watching the replay.

India had lost Cheteshwar Pujara earlier in the same over on a duck. The hosts scored 111/3 in 37 overs before the Tea, as the play started after a delay due to a wet outfield. They were at 80/0 before losing Shubman Gill in 28th over which triggered a collapse.
