Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad gave credit to MS Dhoni for his excellent grasp of the T20 format’s pace after the Men in Blue crushed Australia by 20 runs in the fourth T20I to clinch the series.

Ruturaj is currently the top run scorer in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia, with 213 runs at an average of 71. His best came in the third T20I in Guwahati, where he smashed his maiden T20I century and became the first Indian to score a T20I hundred against Australia.

His unbeaten 123 off 57 balls placed him alongside the likes of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and others who all have smoked tons in T20I cricket for India.

Additionally, Ruturaj’s 123* was the second-highest individual score for India in T20Is after Shubman Gill's 126* against New Zealand.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was quoted as saying by JioCinema: “No, definitely. I would say I learned being in CSK because, you know, Mahi bhai is always keen on reading situations, you know, understanding the game, how the game will progress. And he is more or less sends a message where you have to look for a team score.”

He added, “You know what the team requires at that certain stage, irrespective of where you are batting, Either you are batting on 15 or not out or you just started, what the team requires just in particular that over. So, I think that has stayed with me. And I'm trying to continue that.”

Notably, Gaikwad will next be seen in action in the fifth game on December 3 in Bengaluru.
