Australia once again haunted India with their remarkable performance in the ongoing five-match T20I series after their recent World Cup 2023 win, and this time Glenn Maxwell was their hero.

Maxwell brought a storm to the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, playing a record-breaking innings to guide Australia to a 5-wicket win over India in the third T20I on November 28.

In a nail-biting finish, with two runs needed off the final ball, Maxwell (104*) smashed Prasidh Krishna's delivery down the ground, securing the thrilling victory for Australia against India.

The stand-in skipper, Matthew Wade, couldn't find the right words to describe Maxwell's fantastic performance in the third T20I against India, as this win kept their chances alive to win the series. Notably, Maxwell smashed the joint-fastest T20I hundred by an Australian in just 47 balls.

Matthew Wade said in the post-match presentation ceremony: “You don't get much better than that. It was always going to take our best and probably the best player of T20 cricket we have.”

Before his wonderful century, Maxwell leaked 30 runs off his final over as India put up a huge score of 222/3 on the board in Guwahati. Speaking about the same, Wade said that he had no choice but to hand the ball to Maxwell after Kane Richardson sustained an injury.

The Australian keeper continued, “I wouldn't say confidence was on my mind, but we knew where we could bat in chases. When we had five overs left unfortunately Kane Richardson hurt himself so we were one short and had to bowl Maxi.”

Wade was really happy with this win and now wants the young guns to step up as they are aiming to level the T20I series in Raipur on December 1.

He signed off by saying, “We really needed this win and a lot of guys are heading home so a chance for the younger ones and hopefully we can take it to the decider with another win.”
