IND v AUS 2023: "Was trying to be fearless"- Yashasvi Jaiswal on his blazing knock in 2nd T20I

India's young opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has created history by scoring the most runs in T20I cricket for Team India in the powerplay during the second T20I match against Australia on November 26.

The 21-year-old played a stunning knock of 53 runs in 25 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes in the second T20I match played against Australia at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

His knock an important role in Team India's 44-run victory over the Kangaroos to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series. Thanks to his explosive innings, Jaiswal became the third Indian player after Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to score a half-century in the powerplay in T20I cricket.

However, the left-handed batter recorded the highest T20I score in the powerplay for India. Apart from this, he also scored 24 runs in a single over against Australia's 2023 ODI World Cup winner, Sean Abbott. After the match, the young opener said that he was just trying to be fearless.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said after the match: “It was really special for me. I was trying to play all my shots. Was trying to be fearless. I was sure of my decisions. I have been told by Surya bhai and VVS sir to go and play freely. I have been asked to express myself.”

Speaking about his career, the youngster said: “For me, what I think I can develop and not think about anything else. I am still learning. I really worked on my fitness. I am trying to develop all my shots. The mental stuff is something I am working on. I believe in my practice sessions.”

Notably, India will next face Australia in the third T20I match on November 28 in Guwahati.
