Rinku Singh, living up to his reputation as a reliable finisher, delivered another spectacular performance for India in the second T20I against Australia in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, November 26.

In a dazzling cameo, Rinku showcased his batting prowess by smashing a spectacular knock of unbeaten 31 runs off just 9 balls, including four boundaries and two towering sixes, at a striking strike rate of over 344 against Australia in Thiruvananthapuram.

The left-handed batter’s remarkable hammering played a crucial role in Team India setting an imposing total of 235/4 in 20 overs in the second T20I against Australia. Later, the hosts restricted Australia to 191/9 to record a 44-run victory and take a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series.

After the game, Rinku opened up about his role in India’s T20I and stressed that he is working on becoming a dependable finisher, and even he trains according to this at the nets.

Rinku Singh told the official broadcasters after the match: “I have been playing at 5-6 for a while, so I try to stay calm and focused. I just play the ball on its merit, watch the ball, and play accordingly. I try to notice whether it's a slower ball or a fast ball, and I respond accordingly.”

The Indian star said that he typically gets only 5-6 overs to bat and he prepares according to this.

He added, “I know I'll get 5-6 overs sometimes or maybe 2 overs sometimes. That's exactly how I practice. My role is to bat in the last 5 overs, so I have been working on the finishing skills.”

Rinku signed off by saying, “I do my net sessions with the same mindset. As if I'm batting in the last five. That's what VVS sir has also told me to play in the nets. He (Suryakumar Yadav) is really good, we youngsters are enjoying ourselves with this setup.”
