Australia won a high-scoring contest against India by 4 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20I series on Tuesday (September 20) at PCA Stadium in Mohali, and Australia's captain hailed his team’s efforts and called it a good contest against the hosts.
Batting first, Team India posted a massive 208/6 runs on the board thanks to Hardik Pandya’s magnificent knock of 71* and KL Rahul’s fifty, with Nathan Ellis and Josh Hazlewood taking three and two wickets respectively in Mohali on Tuesday.
Chasing 209 for victory, Australian opener Finch was bowled by Akshar Patel for 22, but then Cameron Green went on to light up the Mohali stadium with his blazing knock of 61 runs off 30 balls, while Steve Smith made 35 runs against India.
Well, India could have made a comeback in the match, but they dropped Green and Matthew Wade (45*), who went on to smack 22 runs from the 18th over by Harshal Patel with Tim David (18*) to help Australia chase down the total with four balls to spare against the hosts on Tuesday.
Aaron Finch said at the post-match presentation: “It was a good contest, wasn’t it? We had some really good partnerships, there were some good contests between the bat and ball.”
He added, “They came hard at us. You expect the run rate to slow down if you lose wickets. The batters tried to change the momentum of the game. That’s what we play for, we still try to instill all the processes leading into the T20 World Cup 2022.”
