The first T20I of the three-match series between India and Australia began at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium in Mohali on September 20, 2022. The remaining two T20Is will be played in Nagpur on Sept 23 and in Hyderabad on Sept 25.
The Indian team will be looking to find their best playing XI in these matches before flying for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and chose to field first and revealed that Tim David will be making his T20I debut for Kangaroos. Rohit Sharma revealed that Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant were not picked with Dinesh Karthik, Harshal Patel, and Umesh Yadav coming into the XI.
Ahead of the match, Virat Kohli was seen talking to former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh who was present in the PCA stadium which is also his home ground. BCCI posted a video of the same on their official Twitter account.

India started off well but Rohit Sharma (11) and Virat Kohli (2) fell early to Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa respectively. But KL Rahul has gotten off to a decent start with one four and one six to his name. India made 46/2 in first 6 overs.
