The BCCI on Friday (June 19) confirmed that Harshit Rana has been added to India's squad for the third ODI against Afghanistan, scheduled for Saturday (June 20) at Chepuak.
Rana, who was at the BCCI Centre of Excellence for injury rehabilitation, has linked up with the ODI squad in Chennai.
Days before the start of India’s triumphant T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, Rana was ruled out of the showpiece tournament due to a knee injury.
Rana had sustained the injury during the T20 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai. He left the field after experiencing pain in his knee and pulling out of his bowling stride twice in one over. Mohammed Siraj later replaced him in the T20 World Cup squad.
Subsequently, Harshit Rana underwent a surgery and missed the entire IPL 2026 season for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He has also been picked in the T20I squad for the upcoming tours of Ireland and England.
Having won the first two ODIs in Dharamsala and Lucknow, the Shubman Gill-led side has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
India’s updated squad for third ODI against Afghanistan: Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer (VC), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana
