In the all-important match, the Boys in Blue bowled out England for 189 in 44.5 overs and then overhauled the target with 14 balls to spare.

India rode on half-centuries from vice-captain Shaik Rasheed and Nishant Sindhu and a five-wicket haul from all-rounder Raj Bawa to be crowned the U19 World Cup champions for a record-extending fifth time.

Soon after India’s triumph, BCCI secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter to announce cash rewards for the players and the members of the support staff. Each player will receive INR 40 lakh while the members of the support staff are set to get INR 20 lakh.

"I'm pleased to announce the reward of 40 lacs per player and 25 lacs per support staff for the U19 #TeamIndia contingent for their exemplary performance in #U19CWCFinal. You have made India proud," Jay Shah tweeted.

The BCCI secretary also lauded the efforts of the Indian team, which was badly rocked by COVID-19 during the group stage of the tournament.

Meanwhile, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also congratulated Yash Dhull's side, adding that the cash prize announced by the BCCI is a small token of appreciation.

“Congratulations to the under 19 team and the support staff and the selectors for winning the world cup in such a magnificent way ..The cash prize announced by us of 40 lakhs is a small token of appreciation but their efforts are beyond value .. magnificent stuff..@bcci,” Ganguly wrote on Twitter.

Despite being hit by COVID-19, the Indian team had an unbeaten campaign in the U19 World Cup 2022. They won the group stage matches against South Africa, Ireland, Uganda, and Bangladesh before defeating Australia in the semi-final and England in the summit clash.
