SA v ENG 2020: Joe Denly's fifty leads England to a close win by 2 wickets; ties series 1-1

The second ODI between the two sides was rained out.

Quinton de Kock | GettyThe third ODI between South Africa and England was played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg and was the pink day at the ground. While South Africa wore pink uniforms, opposition England, for the first time donned their uniforms with a bit of pink thrown in.  

England won the toss and chose to field first. Quinton de Kock and David Miller hit 69 runs each, while they got support from Bavuma (29) and JJ Smuts (31) and South Africa put on 256/7 in 50 overs. Adil Rashid was the best bowler for three lions as he picked 3/51 in his 10 overs. Debutant Saqib Mahmood picked a wicket as well.

Beuran Hendricks | GettyIn reply, Bairstow (43) and Root (49) steadied the ship, while Denly (66) and Banton (32) in the middle overs took the team near the victory. Though Lungi Ngidi (3/63) and Beuran Hendricks (3/59) kept the Proteas in the game. But veteran Moeen Ali made 17* with 3 fours and took the team past the finishing line in 44th over with 2 wickets in hand.

The series was tied 1-1, as the second ODI was rained out.
