In the recently concluded nerve-wrecking Test match between India and Australia at Bangalore that India won by 75 runs, Cheteshwar Pujara got out for a splendid 92 in the second innings. It was the first time in his career that the supremely gritty Pujara got out in the 90s. One hopes that Pujara does not fall in the 90s ever again and goes on to score several more centuries for his country.

Throughout Test history, though, there have been various accomplished batsmen who regularly fell in the 90s. Here is a look at the top five of them.

5. 8- Alvin Kallicharran (West Indies)

This classy West Indian batsman was known for his variety of shots all round the wicket. In the 66 Tests that he played, the talented Alvin Kallicharran scored 12 hundreds and got out in the 90s on eight occasions. Given that this happened in just 66 Tests, this is indeed a remarkably unfortunate record to hold. The amount of talent that Kallicharran possessed and if lady luck had gone his way in those 90s, he would have surely crossed 20 Test hundreds in his career.

4. 9- Michael Slater (Australia)

Much before anyone made this list, it was Australian opener Michael Slater who was infamous for topping it. Although he had a relatively shorter career as compared to the others in this list, Slater still got out in the 90s a whopping nine times. In fact, things had become so bad that whenever he would enter the 90s, people would expect Slater to get out any moment. It's rather unfortunate for someone who scored 14 Test hundreds in 74 matches.

3. 10- Steve Waugh (Australia)

The legendary Australian batsman was known for his tenacious style of play. It was very difficult to get Steve Waugh out once he settled in. However, often times during the 90s, Waugh found himself to be a tad nervous and edgy. Hence, in 168 Test appearances, Waugh got out in the 90s a massive 10 times. He had a total of 32 Test hundreds and a converting a few of those 90s into hundreds would have taken him past the 35-ton mark.

2. 10- Rahul Dravid (India)

'The Wall' of India played countless significant knocks for his country throughout his career. In 164 Tests, Rahul Dravid had a remarkable 36 hundreds to his name. However, Dravid fell in the 90s on 10 instances and hence was robbed of being only the fourth batsman in history to achieve the target of 40-plus Test hundreds.

1. 10- Sachin Tendulkar (India)

The Little Master created endless records in his playing days which will be difficult for anyone else to even come close to. After all, 51 Test hundreds is a feat that is unlikely to be achieved anytime soon in this generation. However, Tendulkar also got out for a record 10 times in the 90s in his 200-Test career. Imagine how his records would have looked like if he had been successful in converting all of those into hundreds. Incredible, indeed!
