IPL has been the primary platform for young Indian players
to showcase their talents and stake their claim for selection in the Indian
team. One team in IPL has given India some of the best players that have made a
name for themselves and that team is Chennai Super Kings and its captain MS
Dhoni supported many players who got a chance to play for India in the 8 years of
team's existence.
We bring to you 5 such players who made their debut for India
after getting support from MS Dhoni:
Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja was one of the major names to come out IPL where he started his career in Rajasthan Royals under the leadership of Shane Warne. He made his debut for India in 2009, but made his place permanent in India team after playing for Chennai Super Kings in the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Jadeja made his Test debut in 2012 and since then, he has been one of the best spinners in Test cricket and has formed a lethal pairing with fellow CSK alumni Ravichandran Ashwin.
Subramaniam Badrinath

Subramaniam Badrinath was a surprise pick by the Chennai Super Kings in the 2008 IPL player auction, as he was seen more as a longer format player. But he performed brilliantly for them in IPL, anchoring the innings in the middle order and allowing other batsmen to play around him. Badrinath made his India debut in Test cricket in 2010 against South Africa after Rohit Sharma got injured in pre-match preparations. He played 2 Tests in that series for India and scored a fifty. He also featured in 7 ODIs for India, making 79 runs. However, he well down the pecking order as Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane became the preferred middle order choices for Indian Test team.
Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin can credit his international career to his time with MS Dhoni in Chennai Super Kings. He made his India debut in ODIs against Sri Lanka in 2010 after a successful and impressive showing for CSK in IPL 2010. His Test debut came in 2011 against West Indies and he was also a part of the India squad which won the ICC World Cup in 2011 at home. He is now the number 1 ranked bowler in Test cricket as well as the number ranked all-rounder.
Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma is another find from the factory of Chennai
Super Kings. The Haryana based fast bowler was picked up by CSK for the 2013
edition and Mohit performed exceedingly well for them picking 23 wickets in 15
matches and became a regular fixture for them. He then made his ODI debut for India
in 2013 against Zimbabwe and was included in the ICC World Cup 2015 squad, when
Ishant Sharma had to withdraw due to an injury. He has picked 24 wickets in 21
ODIs and was part of the Indian team until an injury sidelined him.
Murali Vijay

Murali Vijay was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings in 2009 and played 83 games for the franchise before CSK was banned for 2 years. Vijay formed a formidable opening partnership with Matthew Hayden and Michael Hussey and scored 2097 runs for the CSK team. His wonderful performances for CSK and Tamil Nadu led to him cementing his place in the Indian team after his Test debut against Australia in 2008. He later made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2010, but has failed to make a mark thanks to consistently good performances by Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan at the top in ODIs and T20Is. India got a brilliant Test opener thanks to Vijay getting support from skipper MS Dhoni even when he was having a horrid run in IPL 2012.
