Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi appeared pale under strain during the 17th over of the Manchester T20I of the five-match series against England, former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik claimed that ex-England captain Michael Atherton told him.

The hosts won by four wickets after chasing 191, thanks to Jacob Bethell's excellent 76*. Bishnoi was under pressure for the Men in Blue after bowling three back-foot no-balls in the crucial 17th over, where he leaked 29 runs. His over turned the tide in England’s favor and knocked India out of the game. He ended up giving up 60 runs in his four overs.

Karthik said that Bishnoi has put himself under a lot of pressure with those no-balls during a conversation on Sky Sports Cricket.

Arthur (Michael Atherton) was telling me that he looked pale under pressure in that 17th over, or the 18th over for that matter, and you can understand why. He really didn't want to bowl those no-balls, and he couldn't bowl them because of what he was doing. He was putting himself under so much pressure that he went and did it again. Two balls back-to-back, he bowled no-balls, which is quite odd,” Karthik stated on Sky Sports Cricket.

Karthik went on to say that Bishnoi has already demonstrated his abilities, given that he was the top-ranked T20I bowler at one point in time. But he claimed that the 25-year-old will have to deal with his back-foot no-balls since they put a bowler under a lot of strain, which he thought was clear throughout the leg-spinner's period.

You've got to understand; he was the number one-ranked T20 bowler just before he was dropped. So, he's got performances, and that's why he reached the top there. But this situation is something that he'll look at because it's one thing to bowl a front-foot no-ball. But if you're bowling a back-foot no-ball, that puts a lot of pressure on you because you'll start running differently, which is what we saw,” Karthik stated.

Bishnoi has claimed 64 wickets in 46 T20Is, at an average of 20.45, a strike rate of 16.1, and an economy of 7.58, with best figures of 4/13.

Ravi Bishnoi has to address his back-foot no-ball problem, according to former England cricketer Michael Atherton. He clarified that a bowler experiences a nightmare when he is continuously concerned about where his back foot is landing since it diverts his attention from the batsman and his intended bowling position.

He's (Ravi Bishnoi) got to sort it out in the nets between now and the next game, 'cause that's a nightmare situation for a bowler. Think how difficult it is anyway, bowling in T20 to a batsman who can smash you all around the park. So, if you're thinking about where your back foot's landing, and you're not able to kind of concentrate on what the batters are doing and where you want the ball to land, that's a real problem. So, he's got to sort that out, 'cause you don't want to be going into a game worrying about where your feet are landing,” Atherton said.

The two sides will clash in the third T20I on Tuesday, July 7, in Nottingham.
