ENG v IND 2026: ECB alters start time of three T20Is for better India TV viewership

India will play five T20Is and three ODIs on the tour of England.

India vs England | GettyThe England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially brought forward the start times of three of the five Men's T20Is for India's upcoming white-ball tour of England.

According to an ESPNcricinfo report, the timing adjustments were introduced following coordinated discussions between the ECB, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and official series broadcasters (Sky Sports and Sony Sports Network) to specifically target prime-time slots for the Indian television audience.

The selected matches will now begin at 5:30 PM local time (10:00 PM IST). They were originally slated for 6:30 PM local time (11:00 PM IST).

This one-hour advancement ensures that television broadcasts in the sub-continent wrap up around 2:00 AM IST rather than stretching deep into the night until 3:00 AM IST.

Fan frenzy has swept through the UK, with experts noting that the anticipation surrounding teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's debut has significantly driven up ticket sales.

If Sooryavanshi takes the field during the series, he will break Sachin Tendulkar's 36-year-old record to become the youngest man ever to debut for the senior Indian national team.

Sooryavanshi has already become a true crowd puller in India within two years of his IPL debut. Recently, Sony Sports Network acquired the exclusive rights to broadcast and livestream the India A Tri-Nation Series in Sri Lanka, aiming to capitalize on the massive star power of 15-year-old prodigy.
