Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant on Sunday (17th July) said that he will remember his knock in the series decider against England for the rest of his life. He remarked that delivering for the team under pressure is something he aspires.
Team India clinched the third ODI in Manchester by 5 wickets to seal the three-match series by the margin of 2-1. One of the main architects behind their win was Pant.
The left-hander played his best knock in ODIs as he smashed an unbeaten 125 to take his side home. Pant’s maiden century in the 50-over format came at the time when his side was in the dire need of it.

Chasing the target of 260 runs, India found themselves tumbling at 72/4 and it seemed that would England would pave their way to an easy victory. But Pant stood tall for his side and along with Hardik Pandya (71) stitched a 133-run partnership to make sure that the team ends the series on a winning note.
The southpaw batted sensibly and played according to the situation and after the wicket of Pandya, he took charge to the English bowlers and smashed 6 fours in the last 7 balls of the match to win the series for his side.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Rishabh Pant said that he will remember this knock for the rest of his life. He remarked that he was focused on one ball at a time and that playing under pressure is something he aspires.
“Hopefully I remember (this knock) for the rest of my life. I was focusing on one ball at a time when I was batting. When your team is under pressure and you bat like that .. something I aspire to do. I always enjoy playing in England, at the same time enjoy the atmosphere and the situation,” Pant said.
Pant also lauded his side’s bowlers for doing a ‘commendable job’ and said that they were brilliant throughout the series.
“The more you play the more experience you gain. Nothing to take away from the bowlers, it was a good wicket to bat on and the bowlers did a commendable job to restrict them, they were brilliant not only today but for the entire series,” he said.
Pant will be now seen in the action in the five-match T20I series against West Indies, starting later this month.
