ENG v IND 2022: “Be proud, walk tall & enjoy life”, Pietersen lauds Kohli’s achievements amid recent run drought

Virat Kohli is struggling for runs in the ongoing England tour.

Virat Kohli | GettyVeteran India batter Virat Kohli has become the talk of the town for his poor run of form in the ongoing England tour.

Kohli could manage only 11 and 20 in rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston and aggregated only 12 runs in his two innings in T20Is. While the right-hander didn’t feature in the first ODI due to a groin injury, he made only 16 runs on his comeback in the second ODI at Lord’s on Thursday (July 14).

Kohli’s recent failures saw him drawing flak from the fans and former cricketers. In fact, Indian cricket legends Kapil Dev and Virender Sehwag have raised questions over his spot in the national team.

Amid the run drought, Virat Kohli has also received plenty of support from the cricket fraternity, with the likes of Babar Azam and Shoaib Akhtar backing him to come good.

Now, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has joined the bandwagon and extended his support to Kohli, who has slammed 70 international centuries with the last one coming in November 2019.

“Buddy, your career has had some of the best that have played the game only wish they could have done what you have(so far). Be proud, walk tall & enjoy life. There’s way more than just the bubble of cricket out there. You’ll be back, @virat.kohli,” Pietersen wrote on Instagram.

The ex-England batter also posted a tweet for Kohli having his quote, which reads: “You go big guy! People can only dream about what you’ve done in cricket. And they’re some of the best players that have played the game.”

Virat Kohli will be next seen in action during the third ODI against England at Old Trafford on July 17.
