Former English cricketer Graeme Swann on Sunday (10th July) advised Indian fans to go easy on Virat Kohli and take pressure off him if they value their asset.

Kohli didn’t have a good outing in the T20I series against England. Returning to the team in the second game, the former Indian skipper scored just 1 run and then followed it with 11 runs in the third match.

He looked in good touch in the third game as he smashed a sensational six and a boundary but he got carried away and perished soon after that.

Following Kohli’s poor outings for the Indian team of late, many fans and pundits have started to raise their fingers at the right-hander and want BCCI to drop him from the T20I team and give chance to youngsters.

Speaking on the Sony Sports NetworkGraeme Swann said that if Kohli was an English player and had been going through the lean patch, he would’ve told the media to be easy on him and take the pressure off the ‘star asset’.

"Maybe when you have got a player as good as him, if he was English and I was in the English media, I would be saying hey, we need to ease up on him, we need to take pressure off our star asset so that he performs rather than putting more undue pressure on him, just saying," Swann said

Swann suggested that Indian fans to easy on Kohli if they value their ‘asset’ and take the pressure off him because the batter would be under tremendous pressure to perform.

"As a player, you would feel the pressure from fans and fans have a job, that you can make it easier for your players or you can make it harder. If you do not want Virat Kohli in your team anymore, by all means, keep on heaping the pressure or if you value the asset, then go easy on him," he said.

Kohli will be next seen in action when India takes on England in the ODI series, starting Tuesday  (12th July). The former Indian skipper would be hoping to score some runs and prove all the critics wrong.
