Suryakumar Yadav on Sunday (July 10) struck a colossal century to help the Indian team almost chase down a massive target of 216 in the third and final T20I at Trent Bridge. He scored 117 runs off 55 balls smashing 14 boundaries and 6 sixes. His brilliance with the bat was such that even the England skipper Jos Buttler lauded him.

Yadav needed a mere 16 more balls to reach his century after taking 32 to get his fifty. He also joined the elusive list alongside Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepak Hooda as the sixth Indian batter to record a century in T20Is.

The right-hander eventually got out in the penultimate over bowled by Moeen Ali while attempting to clear the long-off fielder.

Suryakumar's performance was praised by Buttler, who cited it as one of the best hundreds he had ever seen.

"Good fun, more like what we're used to seeing with the bat. The wicket didn't have some of the pace we sometimes here but it was an incredible knock from Yadav, one of the best hundreds I've seen,” he was quoted as saying to Sky Sports.

Moeen Ali received appreciation from his captain for bowling the 19th over and taking the crucial wicket of Suryakumar, despite the fact that the over yielded 20 runs.

“Guys backed their yorkers, a bit of lateral movement. Delighted for those guys. Mo was really keen to bowl [the penultimate over], a selfless character and keen to go with him,” he added.

The ‘Men in Blue’ fell short of the target by 17 runs as they finished at 198/9 but had already sealed a series win after winning the first 2 matches. They will now take on the same opposition in a 3-match ODI series from July 12.
