ENG v IND 2022: England team's Twitter account takes a dig at Virat Kohli after hosts win Edgbaston Test

Kohli and Bairstow had quite a tussle during England's first innings.

Kohli shushing Bairstow in 1st innings | GettyThe England cricket team's official Twitter account took a silent dig at former India captain Virat Kohli as the hosts won the fifth Test at Edgbaston to level the series 2-2 as they chased down the 378-run target with ridiculous ease.

While openers Alex Lees and Zak Crawley nullified any advantage Indian bowlers would’ve gotten with the new ball with a 107-run opening partnership, the true dominant stamp came from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, who shared an unbeaten 269-run partnership as England galloped to a 7-wicket win on day 5 inside two sessions.

Root made 142*, while Bairstow scored his second century of the match and remained not out on 114, as England continued their carnage under the new leadership of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum.

Bairstow had struggled a bit in the first innings of the match and copped a mouthful of sledging from Virat Kohli as well and the two had an altercation as well. However, after the sledging, Bairstow cut loose to score a terrific ton in 106 and took England from 84/5 to 284 in the first innings.

However, with the Yorkshire man continuing his brutal assault in the second innings, Kohli was seen in a bit somber mood and even lauded Bairstow when he got to his century and gave him a side hug after England won the match.

The official England team Twitter account used the two images of Kohli, one with a finger on the lips gesture to Bairstow and the second image of him hugging Bairstow after England won, and they didn’t use a caption, but just an emoji of mouth zipped.
