ENG v IND 2022: WATCH - England's Barmy Army takes a jibe at Virat Kohli after his early dismissal at Edgbaston

Kohli scored just 11 in India's first innings at Edgbaston.

The wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st international century continued as the former Indian skipper was yet again dismissed for a low score in the ongoing fifth Test against England at Edgbaston.

Coming into the match, many backed Kohli to stand tall for his side in the important clash against England but he managed only 11 runs as he was dismissed by young speedster Matthew Potts. 

The 33-year-old at first tried to play at a delivery near the off stump and then tried to leave it at the last minute. As a result of which Kohli only managed an inside edge and the ball went on to hit the leg stump to leave India tumbling at 71/4.

While Kohli’s dismissal left Indian fans sad, the English supporters were elated and even took a jibe at the former Indian captain. Considered as the 12th man of the England cricket team, Barmy Army trolled the right-hander for his century drought. 

They posted a video on their official Twitter account in which English fans can be seen chanting and waving Kohli goodbye as he was walking back towards the dressing room. They captioned the video: '71' alongside a timer emoji. Notably, Kohli last scored a century in 2019.

Coming to the match, after Kohli’s wicket India lost Shreyas Iyer as well and found themselves tumbling at 95/5. Rishabh Pant then stood tall for his side and slammed a 111-ball 146 runs to bail his team out of trouble. 

He along with Ravindra Jadeja (83*) put on a partnership of 222 runs for the sixth wicket, the joint highest by India against England in Tests, to help India end Day 1 with the score of 338/7.
