India is gearing up to play Leicestershire in a four-day warmup game ahead of the rescheduled fifth Test match against England. The warmup match will be played from June 23 onwards in Grace Road ground in Leicester.
This will be the first time Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team outside India. Both England and India will have new captains for the fifth Test match which will begin in Edgbaston on July 1.
Ben Stokes recently took over from Joe Root for England and has led the home side to a 2-0 series lead over New Zealand in the three-match series.

Meanwhile, former India captain Virat Kohli was seen hitting the nets on June 21 and Leicestershire County club shared the video of the Indian batting legend in action with the caption of the video reading, “A master at work.”
Meanwhile, multiple reports had suggested that Kohli was infected by COVID-19 when he returned from his Maldives holiday, but had recovered from the virus. However, the reports suggested that there might be many other players who may have been infected by COVID.
Already, R Ashwin’s arrival in UK will be delayed as he tested positive for the virus and missed the team flight to England.
