The fifth and final Test between India and England at Old Trafford won’t go ahead as scheduled from Friday (September 10).
Taking to Twitter, India cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who was covering this series as a commentator, wrote: “Looks like there won't be any play today guys . #noplay #ENGvsIND”.
While there is no confirmation from the ECB or BCCI yet, Karthik, in another tweet wrote: “NO PLAY TODAY ok Tata bye bye #ENGvsIND”.
Notably, a fresh COVID-19 case in the Indian camp has put the fifth Test in jeopardy. On Thursday (September 9), India’s assistant physio Yogesh Parmar tested positive for the virus. As a result, Virat Kohli and company had to cancel their practice session.
Earlier, India head coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun had also returned COVID-19 positive and they are still in isolation in London.
Team India are leading the five-Test series 2-1, having registered victories at Lord’s and The Oval.
