ENG v IND 2021: Vaughan responds to Ganguly's claim of Indian cricket being far ahead of the rest

India gained an unassailable lead of 2-1 in the five match Test series vs England.

England needed 291 runs with all 10 wickets in hand to win the match on a batting-friendly pitch. Indian bowlers, however, got wickets at regular intervals and propelled India to a 157-run victory. 

Delighted by the emphatic win, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that Indian cricket was ‘far ahead of the rest.’ However, Former England captain Michael Vaughan was in partial agreement.

Team India is undoubtedly one of the best in the world. The Virat Kohli-led team has reached the semi-final of Champions Trophy 2017, finals of World Cup 2019, and the finals of the inaugural World Test Championship earlier this year.

The team also achieved incredible Test series wins in Australia in the tours of 2018/19 and 2020/21 and defeated England, Bangladesh and South Africa at home as well in Tests.

“Great show ..The skill is the difference but the biggest difference is the absorbing power of pressure..indian cricket is far ahead then the rest @BCCI,” tweeted Ganguly after India's win at the Oval,” Tweeted Ganguly 

Michael Vaughan said that India might be the best team in Tests but not in white-ball cricket. 

“In Test cricket .. not White ball cricket,” Vaughan replied to Ganguly’s tweet. 

India and England will play the last and the final Test at Old Trafford, Manchester, starting from 10 September.
