Indian cricket team has on Monday (September 6) suffered a major jolt before the start of day five of the ongoing fourth Test against England, as India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar have also reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 after head coach Ravi Shastri.

It is being said that RT-PCR tests of Shastri, Arun, and Sridhar returned positive for COVID-19 on Monday and they all will only come out of isolation after returning two negative results in England.

Team India will be without the services of their key members of the coaching staff in the fifth and final Test against England to be played at Manchester from September 10 to 14.

A source close to the developments told ANI:Unfortunately, their RT-PCR test results are positive and they will all need to undergo isolation and can come out only after returning two negative results.”

Just half an hour before the start of play on day 4 at The Oval, BCCI’s medical team had isolated Shastri, Arun, Sridhar, and physio Nitin Patel as a precautionary measure after Shastri's lateral flow test returned positive for COVID-19 on Saturday evening.

However, the rest of India’s touring members underwent two lateral flow tests- one on Saturday night and another on Sunday morning, but all they returned negative and were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval against England.
