India after getting bowled out for 191 in the first innings of the fourth Test against England at the Kennington Oval, Indian bowlers had the home team by the neck as the scoreboard read 62/5. But, the visitors allowed the hosts to escape this embarrassment as they finished their innings 290 all-out with a lead of 99 runs.
Thus, while reviewing Virat Kohli and Cos performance, the former India cricketer Aakash Chopra pointed out that Indian bowlers lacked patience and discipline which gave England a chance to get back on track.
"Give him a single, bowl to the other guy,” says Dale Steyn on bowling to Sachin Tendulkar
“The start was very good. Umesh Yadav dismissed Overton quickly. After that, he got Dawid Malan as well, which made it three wickets for him. They were struggling at 62/5 but after that, Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow come together and score very fast. India will definitely have one regret,” Chopra said in his latest YouTube video.
“Seven boundaries were hit in two overs. This does not happen in Test cricket, it takes time to score 28 runs. That was when India lost control. I feel India can win, they will play well but the regret will be that you had the time to bowl with patience and discipline, which you did not do,” he added.
While England batters Ollie Pope (81) and Jonny Bairstow (37) stitched together a 89-run partnership, the former India batsman felt most of the Indian bowlers leaked runs which allowed the hosts to get away.
“Everybody was leaking runs. Umesh Yadav was going at five an over at one stage. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur were going nearly at four. Only two bowlers were bowling tightly - they were Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja along with him. But that's about it,” the 43-year-old said.
The cricketer-turned-commentator then talked about how India made a comeback by picking up crucial wickets of all-rounder Moeen Ali and wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow.

“But Mohammed Siraj comes after lunch and gets Jonny Bairstow out, he makes things happen. Then Moeen Ali comes and they have a good partnership, which helps them take the lead. But then he tried to hit a Ravindra Jadeja delivery which goes straight up and India once again back into the game,” Chopra signed off.
Even though Chris Woakes’ half-century took England to 290 with a good 99-run lead, India openers KL Rahul (22*) and Rohit Sharma (20*) ensured India end Day two without losing a wicket as the scoreboard read 43/0 with the tourists trailing by 56 runs.
