India skipper Virat Kohli, even though scored a superb half-century at Leeds, has been struggling to get to the three-figure mark whereas his England counterpart Joe Root is in top form with 507 runs to his name at an amazing average of 126.75.
The former India cricketer Aakash Chopra in his latest YouTube video pointed out the differences between Kohli and Root.
“There is a difference in runs. Root has reached 725, don't know where he has reached, he is not stopping at all and is in a purple patch. Kohli is trying to figure out ways on how to score runs. It is not easy,” Chopra said.
The Delhi-based batsman who is regarded as one of the best batsmen the country has ever produced has failed to score a century since 2019 and thus, the cricketer-turned-commentator feels the right-hand batsman seems to be low on confidence because of the lack of runs under his belt.
ENG v IND 2021: Rohit Sharma has been tackling English conditions brilliantly- Aakash Chopra
“I feel confidence makes a huge difference, from where you are starting. India's last Test series was against England in India, those were tough pitches, only Rohit Sharma could leave an impression as a batsman, a century each from Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin, but that's about it,” the former cricketer concluded.
As far as the ongoing Test series between England and India is concerned, the hosts managed to level the series 1-1 with an innings and 76-run win over the tourists in the third Test match at Leeds.
Thus, it will be exciting to see how both teams go about in the fourth Test scheduled to be played at the Kennington Oval in London from 2nd September.
