ENG v IND 2021: They were patient and relentless, VVS Laxman lauds Indian bowlers

Indian fast bowlers bagged all 20 wickets in a Test match for only the second time in history.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman who was highly impressed with India’s bowling as they bagged all 20 wickets in a Test match for only the second time in their history, praised them for the same on ESPNCricinfo’s show, Matchday Live.

India bowled well. They were patient, executed their plans, and were also relentless. That is something that is very critical, especially when the conditions are not suiting you and are favorable for the batsmen. We have to accept it, today they were in favor of batsmen, but the bowlers were up to the task. Even Jadeja bowled well,” Laxman said.

The right-hand batsman then lauded India’s newest additions to their pace attack in Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur as both of them picked 1-48 and 2-41 in the first innings followed by 2 wickets each in the second innings.

Bumrah, Shami, Siraj. Siraj bowled really well. Was impressed with his body language and intensity, something that augurs India really well. His battle with Curran not only shows his skill set but also his aggression,” the 46-year-old said.

As far as the first Test match is concerned, the Indian team needs 157 runs on Day 5 to go 1-0 up in this five-match Test series. But, with the weather playing spoilsport in Trent Bridge, it will be interesting to see how Indian batsmen go about in this chase once the game begins.
