ENG v IND 2021: Cricket fraternity hails Root, Bumrah’s exceptional outings with bat and ball on Day 4 at Trent Bridge

Root scored a ton while Bumrah claimed a five-wicket haul for their teams in the second innings.

Skipper Joe Root was the star performer with the bat for England, playing a sublime knock of 109 amid the pressure situation. It was his 21st ton in the longest format of the game and his 172-ball knock was studded with 14 fours.

Sam Curran and Jonny Bairstow also made handy contributions with the willow, scoring 32 and 30 respectively.

For Team India, speedster Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 64 runs in his 19 overs. It was his sixth five-wicket haul in Test cricket and he returned with nine scalps in this game.

Mohammed Siraj (2-84) and Shardul Thakur (2-37) also picked up two wickets each while Mohammad Shami (1-72) chipped in with a scalp for the visitors in the second essay.

For their exceptional outings with the bat and ball on Day 4, Root and Bumrah garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
