While the fans were waiting to see what happens in the James Anderson versus Virat Kohli battle, the England pacer managed to hit the first blow as he dismissed the India captain for a golden duck on day 2 of the first Test at Trent Bridge.
As the fans are excited to see what happened in the second innings, former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq has predicted what will happen in this battle throughout this five-match Test series.
“Anderson vs Kohli has been quite a contest over the years. It was there in the beginning, then we did not get to see it for a while but whenever these two have come across, Anderson has been able to dismiss him 8 to 9 times,” Inzamam said in his latest YouTube video.
“But Virat played him well last time at Trent Bridge, so now we will get to see this riveting battle throughout the series. Both are big players, world-class players, so momentum will keep swinging,” the right-hand batsman added.
ENG v IND 2021: ‘Getting Kohli out that early was quite unusual’, says James Anderson
India had a great outing on Day 1 of this first Test match, as they managed to bowl out England for just 183 runs, and the Indian openers managed to end the day’s play with all 10 wickets in hand.
But on Day 2, just as it looked like this opening partnership will take the game away from hosts, pacer Ollie Robinson managed to get England back in the game just before lunch by removing Rohit Sharma for 36 off 107 balls.
When it came to the second session, veteran pacer James Anderson managed to pick two big wickets in Pujara (4) and Kohli (0) on two successive deliveries and with Jonny Bairstow’s fantastic direct hit sending India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane packing, the game looks pretty even.
