ENG v IND 2021: Graeme Swann has his say on the mouthwatering Kohli v Anderson battle

ENG v IND 2021: Graeme Swann has his say on the mouthwatering Kohli v Anderson battle

Swann also addressed Kohli's lack of international centuries in more than a year.

Virat Kohli | GettyWhile Team India is getting ready to take on hosts England in a five-match Test series from 4 August, fans and pundits are excited to see how the Indian skipper goes about while facing England’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson.

Even though both Kohli and Anderson are among the greats at what they do in the international arena, former England spinner Graeme Swann has predicted the winner of Kohli versus Anderson contest during the Test series.

The thing with Virat Kohli is, the last time he came here absolutely dominated the series. And again, to put the negative stand there and say 'Oh Jimmy Anderson got him out for fun'... Jimmy Anderson 'used to' get him out for fun in England and it was embarrassing, Swann told SportsKeeda.

ENG v IND 2021: Hard to be missing out, says injured Washington Sundar while leaving UK

Virat Kohli went away, worked on his game to an extent that he didn't get out at all to Jimmy and he dominated in England. I am sure he's watching the videos, remembering his techniques against that English attack and I would back Virat Kohli to score runs anywhere in the world at any time,” Swann added.

The 42-year-old then addressed Kohli’s lack of centuries in international cricket for more than a year as the Englishman feels with five Test matches to be played against England, a world-class player like Virat Kohli will go along fine.

The caveat that comes with being one of the 'Big Four', you are expected to score a big hundred either every Test match or every other Test match. I think he still scored 70 runs in the game. He's going to have five matches against England and a truly world-class player like Virat will be fine and he'll come out flying in that series,” Swann signed off.

The Test series between India and England is slated to begin from 4 August at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
